Resupply Boxes

We are going to start putting together some resupply boxes tomorrow. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about: A resupply box is a box of food/supplies that you send ahead to PO boxes in towns along the trail. There are several reasons for doing this. One big one is that a lot of times you can get items cheaper at home, from places like Walmart. Buying items in bulk or in big stores helps save money for the rest of the trip. The hard part is deciding what to put in the boxes. Will I be tired of Ramen noodles a week after starting? Probably, but I will also be happy that I was able to get a pack of 12 for $1.78 rather than $.50 for one. I know it doesn't seem like much but it will all add up over time. We are currently thinking that we want to have a mail drop pick up about every 2 weeks or so. This way we can purchase items in towns along the way every 3-5 days, and supplement this with our resupply boxes. Any suggestions for what we should put in our resupply boxes? Think "lightweight" "Dehydrated" "High Calories". Comment with your suggestions. Also, please go to our Facebook page and "Like" us. Appalachian Trail Hike 2011

  1. It is about to describe the trailers and I removed the hitch and saw that the frame seems to be expanding from the weight of the hitch and trailer.
